Company Background groupe Gorgé

In 2012, the strategic Fund of Investment (FSI) - in its mission to support competitive, innovative French companies as well as employment - became a reference shareholder within Gorgé Group, providing greater means to pursue its development and acquisition strategies.

In 2011, Raphaël Gorgé was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Gorgé Group

In 2009, Finuchem strengthened its position in field of industrial safety, merging with the BALISCO group, an industrial player in the field of nuclear protection and fire-hazard solutions and services. Whilst remaining majority owned and managed by the Gorgé family, these two groups merged together and Finuchem was renamed "Groupe Gorgé". This merger enabled the group to establish itself in three key areas of industrial expertise : Smart Safety Systems, Protection in Nuclear Environments and Industrial Project Services, with a view to providing one or all of these services to companies established in the major industries, in which the group made its name.

In 2008, Raphaël Gorgé was appointed Deputy CEO and Jean-Pierre Gorgé became Chairman of the Board of Directors. Within 10 years, the group quadrupled in size and achieved a turnover of €184 million. ECA is the world leader in underwater robotic mine disposal.

2004 saw the IPO of ECA on the stock exchange and the arrival of Raphaël Gorgé as Deputy CEO. Under the aegis of Raphaël Gorgé, Finuchem initiated the group’s exit from the automotive sector; this was a difficult and costly move in the short-term, but was necessary to restructure and redeploy the group on schedule. Exit from the automotive sector began in 2005 and by 2008 was complete.

Leading on from this expansion, in 1998 Finuchem was listed on the secondary market of the Paris Stock Exchange. This enabled the group to progress into Industrial Project Services in the early 2000s. Finuchem went on to achieve a turnover of €45 million. To date, the group has been a major player in the field of industrial robotics it was then in particular firmly established in the automotive industry, a rapidly expanding industrial sector in the early 2000s.

In 1990, Jean-Pierre Gorgé created Finuchem and moved into the field of robotics, acquiring in 1992 ECA, a company specialising in the design of Smart Safety Systems. Continuing in the field of robotics, in 1996 Finuchem acquired POLYMATIC Industries Ltd.
